Let love guide all your actions

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. ⁵ It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. ⁶ Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. ⁷ It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. ~ 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

Love is real. Those who are privileged enough to experience it, know how powerful it is. When you invite love into your life, you welcome joy and peace. Love does not see flaws. It replaces bitterness, jealousy, hate and arrogance.

Definition of Love

Love is one of the language of freedom. It is powerful enough to free you from the battles of hate towards yourself and others. The three things that you must always live by daily are- faith, hope and love, but the greatest of all is love.   –  1 Corinthians 13:13. 

Let your life be wrapped up with love. You must show love towards every human being regardless of their background or circumstances.

Love can cause pain and bitterness but as commanded by God, it is your duty to love everyone regardless of what they have done to you. One of the greatest pain you can experience is heartbreak. When you give your heart and all to love everyone but in return you received hate, deceit and bitterness. That can cause you to close your heart towards people.

It’s hard to love when you have hurt by so many people. But since the only pathway to move forward in life is to take the path of love and not look at what was done to you, then you have no choice but to walk in that path under God’s command.

Forgiveness is the first step to love

The first step and best form of love is forgiveness. Forgiveness is not something we do for others, we do it for ourselves- to get well and move forward. To experience love for yourself and others you must learn how to forgive. Real love begins with self- love, self work and inner development.

For those of you who have been hurt by the people you love, just remember that the issue was not you it was them, they didn’t understand the meaning of love- but thank you for sharing yourself with them. You may think that you wasted your time,  you didn’t, it was a significant stage in your life for self-growth and self-worth, you didn’t lose, they did.

The issue was not with you, you were enough, but you must understand that in life, two must agree to make anything work (Amos 3:3)  and if you have love in your heart towards someone and you constantly show them but they don’t show you, then the issue is with them,  not you. Don’t be overwhelmed by the hurt they caused you because the stages of our lives are different and that is why it is very important to connect with someone who is on the same page as you.

Love in relationships 

A lot of heartbreaks in relationships comes when the mindset of one person for the relationship is on stage 2 while the other is on stage 10. Don’t commit to someone when you know that they are not in it with you 100%.

The worst thing in starting a relationship is to say to each other “we’ll just go with the flow and see what happens”- while sometimes doing this leads to a forever happy after relationship for some and other times it can go downhill for others when they realize half way that they both don’t want the same thing.

Before you commit to any relationship, let your goals for that relationship be known by both of you. Lay out what you are looking for and be open about it.  Doing this gives you ease of mind, because not only does it free your mind but builds trust. But, sometimes  doing this may not work. Things can change and God may destiny you for someone else but at least your intentions were good and when both of you realize that you tried everything but it’s just cant work out then you wont feel too broken and you know that it just wasn’t meant to be, this way you can move on happily and still wish the other well.

Don’t rush into anything, the right person will wait on you as long as it takes.

People will walk in and out of your life at different stages. They will come for a reason and that reason may have been purposely set to bring out something out of it and reveal to you that you are worth more than this. Sometimes God wants us to go through hurt, failures, heartbreaks and pain for us to see the strength that is built in us.

Love will find you

For those of you searching for love, don’t search for it, it will find you. When you are prepared to accept it and give it back, it will find you. In the meantime, let love guide all your actions, show love to everyone even to those you know deeply don’t deserve it, show it to them because you are representing the image of God.
