“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

Part of our identity as children of God is to take up the yoke of Christ and give him our burden and our worries.
God is calling his children to himself. He is calling all those who are weary and heavily burdened with life, to himself. He is calling us to give us rest. Rest to ease and refresh our souls.
Only God’s rest can get us through the seasons of life. His rest is all that we need. When our hearts are numb with weariness and heaviness and our words can not even be express out loud, how we feel, his peaceful rest will be expressed through us.
To enter into God’s rest and take up his yoke, we have to desire it. We have to desire God’s rest. He is able to give to those who desire his peaceful rest.
As our advocate, it is the Holy Spirit who can help us to bring our weary and heavy-burdened hearts to Jesus. So that we can live in his rest.
He wants to teach us how to experience true rest in him, how to follow him and follow his leading. He will lead us into that green pleasure where our soul and spirit will find contentment even when things around us are turning upside down. His rest is found even in the chaos of life.
God is calling us to lay down our burdens, our weary hearts and minds to him so that we can enter the rest that brings restoration, healing, peace, comfort, refreshment and God’s love.
Prayer:
- Lord let me experience what it feels like to live and walk in your rest. Take me there Lord and heal, restore, and rejuvenate me and make me fully whole and alive in you.
- Teach me Lord how to walk in your rest and how to accept your yoke and learn from you
- Lord, give me your rest that refreshes my soul with your salvation.
