God Will Perfect Everything About You

The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever: forsake not the works of thine own hands – Psalm 138:8

A reflection on Psalm 138:8 highlights God’s ability to complete everything that matters to His children and also the grace to plea to him to not forsake us.

In the Bible, God consistently demonstrates faithfulness and mercy. As a result, we make our plea for him to remember us, his very own special possession (1 Peter 2:9). Whatever promises God made with us, He has the ability to bring them all to pass.

Everything about us, the good, bad and the ugly, the merciful God is able to perfect it all. We are God’s own works, created in his image, in his likeness (Genesis 1:27), therefore only He knows how to fix the damages, brokenness, hurt and pain of our lives. Not only will He fix it, but He will also make everything work together for our good according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).

Our earthly journey may not have initially included Christ, but now that we are fully in him and have wholeheartedly accepted Him as the Lord over our lives, we can find assurance in Him. We can trust that He has the best intentions for us and that His heart towards us is good. He has no evil thoughts towards us. The one who knitted us together in our mother’s womb even before birth (Psalms 139:13), He will not forsake nor abandon us.

We must be confident, that he who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).

Prayer:

  • Lord, I pray that you will perfect everything that concerns me. Only you God can work all things together for my good according to your perfect will for my life.
  • By your mercy O Lord, take me by the hand and shape me to your desire. Lord, help me to yield to be perfected by you. Don’t forsake the works of your hands.
  • Lord, I thank you for your mercy. It is your mercy that I live in every day. Thank you, Lord.
