Are you ready?

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect- 1 Peter 3:15

As Children of God, our salvation is the most important thing for us in this world. Once we declare with our mouths that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved (Romans 10:9). From there on we then make intentional decisions to choose Christ every day.

According to 1 Peter 3:15 as followers of Jesus Christ, we must be prepared to tell others about why we follow Christ. One of the revelations from this verse is that all children of God are called to evangelism. We are called to declare God’s love for us and how He saved us. It is not just enough to keep our salvation to ourselves but we must also be ready to share it with others. We must be ready to tell them why we chose Jesus Christ as our Lord over all the other gods that are in the world today.

The verse (1 Peter 3:15) encourages us to always be prepared. This means that it is something that we must think about and be intentional about how we are going to tell others and share Christ with them.

When we share our reason for hope with others we must share it with the intention that we are fully representing God and as a result, how we share it also matters. God doesn’t want us to share the gift that He gave us out of violence, arrogance, self-importance etc. But the way we share the joy we receive in accepting Christ as our Lord should be shared in gentleness and peace. The tone and the way we share the truth of God can also bring people to Christ.

We are God’s representatives here on earth and we must represent him in love, gentleness, in conduct and in excellence and we must always ask the Holy Spirit to help us to say the right words at the right time.

Just as we should be so eager to share the word of God with others, we must also be eager to prepare how we are going to tell others what God has done in our lives and why He is our saviour.
