Guard your Heart  

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”– Proverbs 4:23

Everything we do and become in this life starts with the desires of our hearts. If our heart is full of evil, then the desires that are produced will be evil. Likewise, if our heart is full of purity and holiness then the desires that will be produced will be of righteousness.

Our heart is the most important thing in this world that will determine how we live and where we end up at the end of our journey here on earth.

The Bible commands us to “guard” our hearts. This means that our hearts play a key role in the direction of our lives.

To guard is to protect, look after, keep an eye on, take care of, cover, safeguard, garrison, preserve, save and the list goes on.

As children of God, the content of our hearts is so crucial for our growth in life. To live the life of holiness we have been called to live (1 Thessalonians 4:7), we must ensure that our hearts are cleansed of corruption and everything that is against the desires of God.

We cannot live a life full of malice, hate, bitterness, anger, and unforgiveness and still expect to flow in the Spirit or flow in the supernatural. We can not be full of evil desires and still expect to live a holy life.

The content of our hearts is our responsibility. It is up to us to protect it from the evil desires and the evil ways of this world. To do that, the Bible must be our daily bread, because when we read it, it will neutralize the lies of the enemy and magnifies the truth of God. The more of the word that is in our hearts, the more knowledge we will have to be able to protect, look after, take care of, safeguard and preserve our hearts.

YOU are invited to come to God with whatever your heart is struggling with, whether is malice, gossiping, hate, rage, talking bad about other people or not wishing them well. Whatever it may be, bring it to God, and do not be ashamed because God has already given you the victory you need to overcome. It is for you to now walk in it with him. He will help you to strip the world out of you until all that remains is the truth He has declared over you.

Prayer:

• Lord Position my heart until all that is left is yours.

• Lord help me not to be conformed to the ways of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of my mind and through the purification, and sanctification of our hearts.
